Your win is not my loss.
Well, maybe in baseball it is. Or football. Or soccer or chess or yeah, any game where rules are agreed on and everyone knows that someone will win and someone will lose and it’s all a game, after all, and we all understand that we’re actually in a competition.
But real life isn’t really a competition, even though some folks think it is.
The fact is that there are just far too many of us who fall for the lie that says if I am to win, then someone else must lose. The lie that says there’s a limited amount of happiness and joy and peace and grace and success in the world.
Nothing could be further from the truth.“There’s a lie that acts like a virus within the mind of humanity. And that lie is, ‘There’s not enough good to go around.” (~Michael Bernard Beckwith)
Actually, there is enough to go around.
More than enough.
And when we finally come to understand this, we will also understand that not only can we support each other’s journeys, but we can also celebrate each other’s wins with sincerity, which makes all of us stronger, more joy-filled, and more joyful.
Again, Michael Bernard Beckwith:
“The truth is that there’s more than enough good to go around. There is more than enough creative ideas…There is more than enough love. There’s more than enough joy…All of this begins to come through a mind that is aware of its own infinite nature.”
A mind aware of its own infinite nature. Your infinite nature, and mine too. Knowing this sort of busts the myth that there’s just not enough joy to go around.
The truth is that when we support and encourage each other we make ourselves, each other, and our communities stronger. When we support each other’s dreams and goals, we make the world better.
tweetables:“There’s a lie that acts like a virus within the mind of humanity. And that lie is, ‘There’s not enough good to go around.” (~Michael Bernard Beckwith) “The biggest impact we can make is to honor the struggles, dreams, and accomplishments of each other.”
