There’s nothing quite so intimidating as a blank page. At least for a writer.

At least for a writer who hasn’t a clue – or an inspiration – about what to write about.

I imagine it’s the same for a painter staring at a blank canvas, or a sculptor staring at a lump of clayYou can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have. (~Maya Angelou)
or a cook staring at an empty pot wondering what in the world he wants to put in it.

Creativity without inspiration isn’t impossible, but it is a lot more work.

The truth is that we’re all living creative lives. What to make for dinner, what outfit to put together, what art to hang on our walls…these are all creative acts. Life itself is a creative act, when you get right down to it. What choices we make to create – or re-create – the life we want to live.

But you can wander through a whole life long longing for more but not knowing that the way to more isn’t found by getting more but by being more.

Being more willing to risk failing in order to pursue your passion.

Being more willing to stare down that blank page or blank canvas or blank fridge for as long as it takes The way to more isn’t found by getting more but by being more.to figure it out.

Being more willing to say you’re sorry.

Being more willing to forgive and forget.

Being more willing to be more of who you really are, and let others be who they really are. More willing to be more kind, more loving, more helpful…more of what makes humans more beautiful.

When you’re finally willing to be more of who you’re meant to be, you discover how much more you can be.

It’s not always easy, of course. Creativity without inspiration isn’t impossible, but it is a lot more work.

Being more of who you are, despite the fear of failure or rejection or the unknown, is hard work.

But when you’re finally willing to be more of who you’re meant to be, you discover how much more you can be.

The way to more isn’t easy.

But you can do it.
