Whatever goal or intention you set for today, whether lofty and life-changing or just the simple prayer of “Lord, help me make it through today”, know this:

You can do it.

You can achieve it. You can work towards it, reach for it, live it and breathe it.

And you really need to tell yourself this. Daily. Maybe even – on the hard days – hourly?

Out loud if possible.

And this is going to sound a little strange, but bear with me because it actually is backed up by research done at the University of Michigan, talking to yourself in the third-person is a better way to do it, specifically, if you want to lower stress and negative emotions.

Although I definitely recommend being discriminating about where you engage in said third-person self talk.

Because, well. Just because.
