There was a time, once upon a time, when life was new and mostly unlived and me? I had dreams about how it would be. My life. My one life.

I was a dreamer.

Perhaps you, too, were?

Perhaps you still are, like me, dreaming of pursuing the passion that ignites your soul?

Maybe we’re all just dreamers. All just dreaming of a better life, of living our true purpose, of finding joy.

I can’t remember the first breath I took. Can’t remember being swaddled tight, learning to walk, learning the language I speak. I only vaguely recall bits and snatches of the first house I lived in, the one we left when I was seven. Or six. Or thereabouts.

I do remember that I had no say in the leaving.

I really hadn’t wanted to move to a new town, new school, new everything.

I was just a bit scared of the new back then.

But no one asked for my opinion or approval. Adults do that, you know? Parents do that.

They make decisions that they feel are best for their children, their families.

Simple decisions:

No, you can’t have a cookie ten minutes before dinnertime.
Yes, you do have to brush your teeth before bed.
Okay, one more story.

And hard decisions:

No, you can’t go. You’re grounded.
Yes, you can take the car. Be safe.
Okay, one more chance.

So we packed up and loaded up and left the known and only traveled twenty or so miles away, but the distance really didn’t matter. Ten miles or a thousand, to a six year old it’s just all new.

And truly, after a few weeks or maybe months, it all just faded from my memory. The unknown became known, the new became normal, and home became home.

Our childhood home is always home, in some ways.

And yeah, it was there in that home that I was moved to when I was seven, or six, that I began to dream about how life would be. But that’s probably how it is for most of us – dreams start to take on shape and form in the place we call home.

I’ve said it before, that you deserve to live your dream, follow your passion, define yourself.

Live your dream.

And I’ll say it again.

Every dreamer deserves to live their dream.
