Here we are just a few steps into Spring but the ice is still clinging to the eaves, despite the melting.
Because frankly, there’s a whole lot of it up there.
And on the stoop. And in the yard.
But the thing is, the calendar page is turned and even though the garden’s still under half a dozen inches of snow, Spring is here.
She might be taking her own sweet time getting here, but I get that, I really do. Sometimes I take my own sweet time getting places too. Because I’ve got too much on my plate or because I’m stuck in indecision or because I’m just plain scared of moving forward.
Sometimes I think we all are.
But really, what are we waiting for?
You name it, we claim it. Time. Money. Space. When the kids graduate. When the debts are paid. When I’ve lost the weight.
We can come up with a million excuses to not move forward, not try, not take the chance to go after a dream.
But the truth is simpler than time and money and space and graduates. It always is.
The one thing that keeps most of us from moving forward, is fear.
Yeah, we’re all just a little bit or maybe a lot afraid of taking that first step. We might even know this. Might even claim it and say that yes, once I’ve got the courage, I’ll step out and start.
The thing is though, you’re kind of always gonna be a little bit afraid.
Step out anyway.
Courage isn’t something to wait for. Courage is something that springs from your heart.
The word itself comes from the Latin word for heart – “cor”.
If you have a heart, my friend, you have courage. You just need to let it bloom.
To take the change of failing because that’s exactly where the chance for success lies.
And yeah, it’s really time to not take your sweet time. Because Spring is here and eventually she will bloom, and you?
Well, you do deserve to bloom too.
