Okay, so here’s what we really kind of all need to stop doing.

In general. In life.

In my opinion.

And yeah, now.

Just now.

#1 – stop apologizing for who you are. (Including, but not limited to: what you love, whom you love, what you think, what you wear, what you weigh, or the fact that you still own a pair of leg warmers. And still wear them. Which I might, or might not, also do.)

#2 – stop doubting that things can get better. Things can always get better. Always. Always. And always.

#3 – stop forgetting to floss every day. Seriously. It really helps. (A sticky note reminding you of this, on your bathroom mirror, also helps).

#4 – stop stopping yourself from complimenting someone’s gorgeous necklace or fantastic shoes or tattoo that you really love because you think they’ll think you’re pushy. They won’t think that. Or maybe they will. But honestly, don’t we all just really need some encouragement and compassion and love these days?

#5 – stop worrying about every single thing. You know you do this. I know I do this. And I think we all know that we really do need to stop doing this. Deep breath. And another. And remember – “If it isn’t going to matter in 5 years, don’t spend more than 5 minutes worrying about it.” Yeah. Let’s try that.

#6 – stop taking the little things for granted. You know you do this. I know I do this. But what if we all just stopped for a moment and noticed how amazing the sun feels on the face, or how perfectly those slices of tomato came out, or how delightful it was that the light switched to green just as you came up to the intersection? And what if we not only noticed it, but noted it? Jotted it down somewhere? Gratitude scribbles really can change perspective.

#7 – stop being so hard on yourself. Really. You’re doing the best you can. I know this. You know this. We all know this. Even if some of us won’t ever, ever, ever admit it. Ignore those people. They don’t know anything.

#8 – stop listening to anyone who tells you that you aren’t amazing just as you are.

Because the truth is,

you are.
