Have you named the year?
Have you heard of this intention-setting exercise?
If you haven’t, the basic idea is that you choose a theme, or intention, for your year. For example, if you want to be more open to new experiences, you might name your year “yes”. Or, if you say “yes” way too many times, you may decide to name your year “no”.
Some other great names: trust, faith, courage, gratitude, bravery, delight.
You get the idea.
It’s a great exercise, in that it really does make you think about the bigger picture of your life, where you are and where you want to go. It’s not too late to name your year. Or your week. Or maybe even your day.
Maybe that’s what we really need to do. Name the day, every day. Set an intention, every day. Live just a bit more intentionally, a bit more on-purpose, every day.
Because life is really just a string of days which add up to a story.
Your story.
The story you’re writing.
The story you’re living.
So, maybe it’s time to start living your best story.
Yeah, so I did name the year. And no, it’s not one of those I listed above. Actually, it’s kind of weird.
“Loud.”
My year of loud. Technically, it’s my year of living out loud.
Not quiet. Not hiding. Not afraid and not small.
Because it’s time to live my best story. And it’s time to live it out loud so others can hear it. So I can hear it.
“When you get right down to it, intentional living is about living your best story.” (~John C. Maxwell)
“The key is not to prioritize your schedule but to schedule your priorities.” (~Steven Covey)
And when you get right down to it, you deserve to live your best story.
It’s not too late to name it. To write it. To claim it.
Happy writing.
