So it’s April, and it’s Easter Monday, and there are a few birds singing this morning despite the snow that’s falling.
Yep. April. Easter Monday. Snow.
Do these things really belong all together in the same morning?
And yes I know (I really do know) – I need to stop complaining about the weather.
But honestly, sometimes you just get plain tired of weathering the storms.
Snow storms and life storms sometimes seem to just keep on keeping on, making you feel like there’s not much of anything you can do about it except complain.
But you know? They won’t last forever. They can’t last forever. Seasons change and time heals and it’s a good thing that Easter was yesterday because isn’t Hallelujah what we really all need?
Isn’t resurrection what we really all need?
New life, new mercies, new seasons?
So you can’t stop the storms from coming, when they’ve a mind to. But the thing is, the storms can’t really stop you either.
They might keep on keeping on, but so can you. Because new life and new mercies and new mornings, right?
So you keep going. You strap on the boots and walk right out there into the storm and keep on keeping on because you know that seasons change and you know that time heals and you know that Easter was yesterday and you know Hallelujah.
You know Hallelujah in your innermost being.
You know Hallelujah deep where sinew meets bone.
You know Hallelujah right there in that right chamber that pumps life to lung.
You know Hallelujah because Hallelujah is what you were born for and what He died for and yes, you know that there is a Good Friday but you know the story didn’t stop there and will never stop there.
You know Hallelujah because you’ve lived Hallelujah.
Lived it when terrestrial air first filled your lungs.
Lived it when you blew out your first birthday candles.
Lived it when you rode a bike for the first time.
Lived it when you sat around a campfire swapping stories and laughs.
Lived it when you got your first job, your first car, your first apartment, your first love.
You know Hallelujah because you’ve lived Hallelujah, and because you live it again every morning when the sun rises and you are given the gift of a new day and every evening when you lay your head down and He gives you the gift of rest.
You know Hallelujah because you’ve lived it in every smile you’re given, every shoulder you’re offered, every kindness done to you, and every kindness you do unto others.
So it’s April, and it’s Easter Monday, and it’s snowing.
And you know? I’m done complaining about it. Because I know Hallelujah. Because I’ve lived Hallelujah.
Now, where are my boots?
